Vegetti makes an enigmatic post, and Vasco fans see it as a farewell.

Through social media, Vegetti seems to be hinting that his love affair with Vasco is nearing its end. Eternized in the hearts of many fans, “Pirata,” as he was affectionately nicknamed by the supporters, has faced a sharp decline in performance and lost his starting position.

On Instagram, the number 99 usually declares his love for the club and the fans. However, on Friday night (9), the Argentine reposted, along with a broken heart emoticon, an old post from his wife about the defeat in the Copa do Brasil final.

Check out the reaction:

Despite ending the year on a low note, Vegetti was still Vasco’s and Brazilian football’s top scorer in 2025. Therefore, the number 99 shirt has attracted the interest of several clubs in this transfer window. The main one is Cerro Porteño, from Paraguay.

Cerro Porteño is interested in Vegetti, from Vasco.

Vegetti has a contract with Vasco until the end of 2026. Signed in mid-2023, the striker has played 140 games for the club, scoring 60 goals and providing seven assists. Vasco has become the team for which the Argentinian has played the most games in his career, surpassing Belgrano, where he played 123 matches.

The interest stems from a request by coach Jorge Bava, current manager of Cerro Porteño. The club’s football director, Enrique Biedermann, confirmed the talks in a live interview with ABC Deportes channel, this Thursday (8), but acknowledged the complexity of the negotiation.

“The interest in Pablo Vegetti is real, but it will be a difficult negotiation because he’s an idol at Vasco. We’re in talks, but it’s a complicated negotiation. Difficult, but not impossible,” the director stated.
