Stadium change: women’s national team hosts Finland in Vizela

First qualifying match for the 2027 World Cup

The first qualifying match for the women’s national football team for the 2027 World Cup, against Finland on March 3rd, has been moved from Paços de Ferreira to Vizela due to the state of the pitch, the federation announced.

In a statement, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) explains that the change of venue for the match, scheduled for 6:45 pm, “is related to the overloaded state of the pitch [at the Estádio Capital do Móvel], a consequence of the inclement weather of recent weeks.”

The second meeting of the Sailors in their journey to qualify for the 2027 World Championship, which will be held in Brazil, remains at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, on March 7th.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) states that tickets for both matches can be purchased online, with the link for the Vizela game being available shortly, and indicates that “those who already had tickets for the Paços de Ferreira game will be contacted soon.”

Portugal is in Group 3 of League B of the Women’s Nations League, starting the phase with two home games before traveling to Latvia on April 14 and Slovakia on April 18.

The group stage concludes with a home game against Latvia on June 5th, followed by a visit to Finland four days later.
