Flamengo makes an offer for Andrew and enters a dispute with Botafogo.
Flamengo offers a pre-contract to the goalkeeper and negotiates his release with Gil Vicente.
Flamengo has made a pre-contract offer to goalkeeper Andrew, from Gil Vicente in Portugal. The 24-year-old player was observed in person by José Boto and Filipe Luís last week, in a match against Sporting, for the Portuguese Championship.
Flamengo offered a long-term contract and, simultaneously, began talks with Gil Vicente to try and secure the goalkeeper’s release during this January transfer window. To this end, the Rio de Janeiro club is discussing financial terms for an immediate departure, with negotiations still ongoing.
With six months remaining on his contract and free to sign a pre-agreement with any team, Andrew also received an offer from Botafogo, the club where he began his professional career before transferring to Portuguese football in 2021. From the player’s perspective, the sporting aspect also weighs heavily: at Flamengo, he would compete for a position with Rossi, while at General Severiano he would be an undisputed starter.
Despite the competition, Flamengo remains optimistic about a positive outcome. The goalkeeper has not yet reached an agreement with any club. He evaluated the offer from Botafogo, but chose to wait for further approaches, which led to Flamengo entering the race.
Currently in high demand in the market, Andrew has also recently been approached by clubs in France and Italy. However, there is no decision yet regarding the player’s future.
