The newspaper AS described Filipe Luís as “dejected” and pointed out that his departure stems from recent poor results, notably the defeat in the Recopa Sudamericana final against Lanús. The BBC complemented the scenario by recalling that Flamengo accumulated two consecutive runner-up finishes in the last month, also losing the Supercopa do Brasil final.

The Spanish newspaper also recalled that the coach came close to winning the Intercontinental Cup three months ago in Qatar, when the team was only defeated by PSG in a penalty shootout. According to the newspaper, Filipe Luís remains a highly sought-after coach by the European elite, despite his disappointing departure from the Brazilian club.
