Miami (USA) – In the first match of the day at the Miami Tennis Invitational, American Amanda Anisimova prevailed over compatriot Jessica Pegula in straight sets, winning the duel between home players with scores of 6/2 and 7/5.

Anisimova dominated the first set of the match, but Pegula evened the score in the second. However, the current world number 6 was no match for the current US Open and Wimbledon runner-up, who sealed the victory with a break of serve.

Currently ranked fourth in the WTA rankings, Anisimova thus avenged her defeat in another exhibition match held between them the previous day, in which Pegula emerged victorious with a 2-1 set win.

Pegula and Alcaraz win in the mixed doubles

Next, the Americans took to the court to play a mixed doubles match tiebreak. Anisimova was partnered with João Fonseca from Rio de Janeiro, and Pegula was paired with Carlos Alcaraz from Spain.

Pegula’s duo, paired with the world number 1, ultimately prevailed in a rather relaxed match against Anisimova and Fonseca, scoring 10-8 to secure the victory at Loan Depot Park, home of the Miami Marlins, the local baseball team.
