Nikola Jokic suffers left knee injury in defeat against the Heat.
Nuggets coach David Adelman explained that the severity of the center’s injury has not yet been determined.
Serbian basketball player Nikola Jokic suffered a left knee injury in the Denver Nuggets’ 147-123 loss to the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP, was injured after teammate Spencer Jones stepped on him, the impact causing the Serbian player to lose his balance.
The injury occurred just seconds before halftime, with Jokic lying on the ground for a few moments clutching his left knee before limping off the field towards the locker room.
Nuggets coach David Adelman explained that the severity of the center’s injury has not yet been determined, and this should happen in the coming hours after further tests are carried out.
“All I know is that Jokic has a left knee injury and that procedures must be followed. He immediately realized something was wrong,” said the coach.
Jokic finished the game with 21 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, with the Nuggets, the 2023 NBA champions, who were tied at halftime, losing in the second half to the Heat.
